Church Planting in the United States
Ken and Renee Dockery, along with their four children Drew, Kelly, Erin, and Derek, are church planters with Continental Baptist Missions. They serve as a team along with Bill and Natalie Taylor who have five children. (Ben, Andrew, Julia, Kayla, and Nathaniel.) As a team they hope to plant a new church in the downtown area of Cleveland.
Ken first became interested in Cleveland while there for a heart operation at the Cleveland Clinic. It was during this difficult time in his life that God burdened his heart for the many people in that city. At the very same time God was also working in Bill and Natalie’s heart about going to a city as well. In the course of time God made it clear that He was putting together a team. Both families joined CBM in 2004 and have been on deputation full time since 2005.
The Dockery family is currently looking for a place to live in the city and hope to be there by August. There are still many unknowns, but by faith they plan to move. Once there, they plan to look for a location to start a Bible study and gather people together for a possible church plant.
The Bible commands us to go into all the world, and that is what excites us about the city. The world has come to us, and we in America have the opportunity to obey that command through our cities. We look forward to seeing many come to Christ in the days ahead.
